WHS Requests Help on Road to Technology
A Call to our Community… THE ROAD TO STATES…THE ROAD TO EQUAL ACCESS!
For the past two football seasons this community has rallied behind our school and a group of talented young men to show our support and confidence in their ability to accomplish a goal! It has been inspirational to experience this as your child’s Principal.
We are now calling upon your support for our students with equal loyalty and purpose. We not only have talented athletes we have amazing students who have a common goal of college and career success. In order for our students to reach their goals and be best prepared they need to have access to materials and technology like their peers in other buildings across the county, state and nation. Walkersville High School is one of our oldest high schools in the county, and for the past 4 years we have been working diligently in partnership with FCPS, Boosters Organizations and local donors to improve our facility. It has been a journey with great outcomes from a new Gymnasium, Track, FCC Dual Enrollment Commons, updated Media Center, Cafeteria, locker room showers, pool deck, auditorium stage, sidewalks and more. We are now approaching a critical time of need for technology. Currently we possess fewer Chromebooks and personal computers for our students than many of our county schools across all levels. A large portion of our current technology is on the brink of becoming outdated and no longer supported for repair. It is my wish and goal as Walkersville High School’s Principal to level the “Playing Field” so to speak in our classrooms and shared instructional spaces for greater access to technology. OUR STUDENTS DESERVE EQUAL ACCESS!
As we know it is a digital world of learning for our students. In their careers and in college courses they will be expected to use technology daily. It is our responsibility to prepare our students with digital citizenship and skills necessary for online instruction. I am confident with a community charge and common purpose we can raise funds to support our students. Our community has proven many times before, how powerful we can be when we unify our efforts for a shared goal!
This Friday we will officially KICK OFF our “ROAD TO TECHNOLOGY” campaign on the coat tails of energy from our “ROAD TO STATES” quest! We can challenge ourselves not to just give the state of Maryland $8.00 to support Maryland High School Athletics, but also give directly to our students wearing BLUE and GOLD every day in our classrooms! (You may not be aware but WHS does not maintain any of the gate proceeds from the game, it does goes directly to MPSSAA).
Once inside the gate there will be a table located next to the Honorary Lion Brick Garden. There you can donate your contribution to our charge. To provide immediate receipt for your charitable tax deductions any donor can request a carbon receipt on site immediately. We will have them available at the time of donation. Donors who give $20.00 or more will be listed in a public release as a community sponsor from the school following the game. Those who wish to donate online can print a receipt immediately following the transaction.
Online Donations can be made at the following web address https://FrederickCounty.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/3081/82/False/True anytime over the next few months as we continue our campaign for the “Road To Technology.”
A Sincere Thank You!
